Florida

Well, I am finally here. I have been in Tampa for about two weeks now. Chris is on his way out here tomorrow. So far, it is a lot like Arizona- HOT. I find that I do prefer the weather here though. It is nice because it cools off in the evenings, something that never happened in the summer in Arizona. Since I have been out here, I have encountered these odd wet things falling from the sky- I feel like I know them from a previous life- oh yes, rain drops. It is weird, because I didn't realize how much I missed random showers. I find that, instead of avoiding the rain, I am the first one to go out in it these days or just sit and watch it through the window. I am sure that the novelty will wear off soon enough though.

Life here is going to be really good. I really enjoy my job so far. I can tell that it is going to really keep me busy. I already have more responsibilities than I ever had while working for Amica. I am starting to get into a routine here, and we all know how I am a creature of habit, so coming up with a new routine is imperative.

I have only made it to Disney World one day since I have been out here. I wasn't able to go last weekend, due to our POD arriving. I did enjoy a few hours roaming the Magic Kingdom with a Monstro pretzel. It was really crowded, so the only attraction that I did was the Carousel of Progress- always a favorite! It was just really nice to be back there and not have to wonder when I would be there again. I didn't notice too many changes, but then again, I didn't have much time there. I wish that they had a Disney Gallery to sell their nice artwork like Disneyland has. I did really miss that.

Bugs- My greatest fear has been realized. We co-habitate with bugs. They were here from Day 1. My new can of extra strength RAID is my new best friend. I don't leave a room without it. The good news is that I had an exterminator come to the apartment last week, and I have not seen a living bug in two days- knock wood. The fact that there are bugs around is giving me extra motivation to get busy looking for a home to relocate.

I am really excited for Chris to get out here so we can really start our new life together down in Florida.

That is about it for now. I am so excited to have the internet up and running. I go through withdrawal if too much time goes by without internet access! :-)

One Last Weekend in AZ

Our last weekend in Phoenix together proved to be a very nice one. While I did do some packing, we also had a lot of fun!

On Friday, we went to see Ratatouille. ( I am sure I just spelled that wrong). It was a great movie! I honestly didn't have the highest of expectations, given some of Disney's recent movies, but this movie was wonderful. I am so glad we went.

On Saturday, we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Of course, I am supportive of any movie based on a classic Disneyland ride, and the references to the attraction were my favorite parts. Other than that, it was a bit long and slow moving.

Since it was tradition for us out here to go hiking each Sunday that we could, we decided to do one last Sunday hike on one of our favorite mountains. I really don't know what posessed us to do this on a day that went up to 115 degrees. We thought it might be a bit cooler if we went later in the day- 6:30. Well, it wasn't. We also had the added pleasure of descending the mountain in darkness this way. The sun sure does set quickly here. Of course, the whole way down, I was hearing and seeing things. It sure was a relief to get to the end!

The adventure did not end when we got home. We learned a bit about kitchen fire safety in the evening. Chris was cooking his steak as usual, when he noticed that it smelled a little steamier than usual. I was enjoying my evening in the bed room, when I hear Chris calling my name. Sure enough, I look in the kitchen, and there are flames in the oven. We look for something to dump water on the pan with, but there is nothing, so I have the brilliant idea to remove the pan from the oven and put it in the sink. Of course, since I am now exposing the flames to oxygen, they get bigger, and I panic. Luckily, I got the pan in the sink before I lost a hand. I did some research for future reference, and for all of you out there, a piece of advice- if you ever have flames in the oven, simply turn off the heat and keep the door shut to suffocate the fire.
